Keyboards and Vocals: Robert Goldstick
Having eight years of classical training under his belt as a young
boy, in his teens Robert moved into the good stuff,
rock n roll and jazz, playing through his high school and
college years. After a brief stint in a more conventional career,
chemical engineering, Robert was back in the music business in the
early 70s. Robert writes and performs all styles of music, and he
knows how to entertain. He wrote the music and lyrics for a musical
comedy, Shrink, in Hollywood, and was the musical inspiration for
an improvisational mime troupe, Mad Mountain Mime, that toured with
Blood, Sweat and Tears in 1976. He found a passion for Caribbean
music when he joined Our Boys Orchestra and Caribbean Connections
in San Francisco. He s performed throughout the U.S. and Europe,
including 12 years at Clint Eastwood s Mission Ranch in Carmel,
with his well-rounded and versatile style.
Guitar: David O Connor
David picked up the guitar in his early teens and hasn t put
it down since. His serious training began in Malaga, Spain where
he studied Flamenco and classical guitar with a professor from the
Conservatory of Music. David s first big break came when he
played with Buffy St. Marie in his early twenties. He moved on from
there to join Leonard Cohen, touring the world and playing in the
finest venues. His next serious gig was a stint with The Letterman,
where he again found himself on world tours. David s eclectic
history blends every style from jazz, classical, pop and blues,
to Latin and salsa big bands. Locally, David has played with the
successful Sofrito, The Don McCaslin Band, Rain (at the famous Cooperhouse
in Santa Cruz) and with numerous other groups. He can be heard on
sunny Sunday afternoons at the Capitola wharf with Don McCaslin,
and is equally proficient as a soloist, providing background music
for all occasions.
Drums: Tom Brown
Tom has been drumming for more than 30 years. In the 60s and 70s
he studied in New York with Vinnie Ruggiero (protege of Philly Joe
Jones), and in California with Jerry Grannelli (Joe Morello protege)
and George Marsh. Tom taught and played music until 1980 when he
was admitted to the California Bar. He now describes himself as
a musician who practices a little law on the side.
Tom has had long stints with the jazz-fusion bands Swamp Steam (Santa
Cruz) and Winter Sun (San Francisco). He led a jazz quintet, Windows,
which opened the show for a Weather Report concert in 1977. Over
the years he s played with all of the better-known locals
and currently (for the past 12 years) plays with the Randy Craig
Quartet at the Bayview Boat Club in San Francisco, enjoys playing
in a Motown/R&B band and with an Afro-Cuban rehearsal band.
